The owners of Carpe Diem Travel spent a number of years designing and implementing this project with the aim of providing sustainable income for a group of local people without high investment in technology, equipment or capacity building. By creating a self-sustaining enterprise we use business best practice as a means of improving peoples’ living environment, while helping them to gain a source of income and a sense of self-worth. Ongoing voluntary contributions of design and quality management expertise ensure that the items produced are desirable and functional in their own right, not just as a “conscience purchase”.
